2010 Year in Review

Dec 30, 2010 00:56

The year 2010.. Can't believe it is almost over, so I decided to do a year end review..  My thoughts and what not to follow..

Well, let's see, this is all stuff personal to me, so onward.. 2010 started out like any other year, nothing major, rather boring... The year didn't really start to get interesting until the end of March/beginning of April.. At which my car decided to crap out.. totally, to the point it would cost over $3,000 to fix.. yeah right, sold that fucker to a junk yard.. But, after that happened we find out that we got audited by the IRS, and have to pay back our 2008 return, which needless to say is a  lot of fucking money.. And, I am still without a car, which will hopefully change within a month or so, I am getting tired of not being able to see my family.  Other than those things nothing really major in my personal life.  So onwards.. My interests..

2010 saw the rise of foreign music in my life.  I have always loved music, and it never mattered where it came from as long as it was good.  American music, in recent years, has totally sucked, to a point where I was going back and listening to music from when my dad was young, the greats like Zeppelin, Queen, and so on..  Just because recent rock music here just sucks.  I can't hardly distinguish the different voices of groups cause they all sound the same.  I have even gone into trying to listen to American Pop and R&B.. Just nothing like it used to be.. at least in regards to R&B, Pop has pretty much always been the same here.  Two of the most popular "artists" of this year I can't stand (Lady Gaga & Justin Beiber), they need to change professions.
Well, I have been a drama/manga/anime nut for 3 years or so now, and back in March or thereabouts I was re-watching the Gokusen series, and when I was watching Gokusen 2 I got interested in two of the actors, first and foremost was Akanishi Jin, and the other was Kamenashi Kazuya, so I googled Jin first and found out that he was in a boy group with Kame, so i went a searching on Youtube or wherever I could find for anything having to do with KAT-TUN..  And thus started my obsession.  I have been obsessed with everything KAT-TUN/Jin ever since, I have read and watched just about anything and everything I could get my hands, by way of mouse, on.  I guess you could say, I found them to late, which is very true, because a lot of shit went down this year with that group.  But, anyway, their music was great, it wasn't just "Pop" or "Rock" it was both, and then when you add in Jin, well it got a R&B/Hip-Hop flavor to it as well.  I thought it was GREAT!  Although at the time, there were a few members I just couldn't stand, they have each grown on me in some fashion or other, but no one beats Jin.
Well, now Jin is no longer a member of KAT-TUN, he is a solo artist, and will be releasing a single/album sometime in early 2011.  But, through them I became interested in other groups in J-Pop mainly, but its hard for me to enjoy a lot of the other groups, because I tend to be a very tough critic.  I don't care if every single last member of a group is "hot", or can dance, if the voice isn't good, I can't listen.  I have found that other Johnnies groups just aren't as good.  I like certain voices like Tegoshi of NEWS, Ryo of NEWS & Kanjani8, and so on.. I actually like another J-Pop group AAA.. except for one member, but eh.. I am still on the search for good Japanese music, not really caring about genre..  There are a couple Korean boy groups I like as well BIGBANG and F.T. Island being the major ones.  I tend to like the K-Drama OSTs better than their groups.  My search for good music is never ending, and its a major obsession.  Hopefully 2011 will bring me some awesome new music.

2010 also was the rise of Korean Drama's for me.  Up until 2010 I never really watched anything other than Japanese drama's and anime, but because of boredom, and the description of the show interested me I started watching You Are Beautiful, and well it was all downhill from there, and well I became obsessed again, LOL.  I started watching anything with JGS in it and then went from there.. I think up to this point I have actually watched more Korean Drama's than I have Japanese, but it is sooo hard to tell.  There is just something about K-drama's that I keep going back for, I try to keep up with the new ones, but well that is hard to do now that ViiKii.net is Viki.com and they really aren't allowing anyone who isn't a qualified contributor to watch stuff, so I have lost track of all the shows I wanted to watch, but eh.  But, one good thing is that I can now watch some K-Drama's via Hulu.  And 2 of my top 3 fav drama's of the year are K-drama's.. #1 being Bad Guy #2 Secret Garden #3Joker (I can't remember the rest of the title).  Although there were a bunch of other drama's that I loved this past year, these were my favorites.
I am looking forward to these in 2011:
My Princess
Dream High
Sign
What's Up?
Poseidon
Bartender
LADY~Saigo no Hanzai Profile~
Heaven's Flower

All and all 2010 was a rather boring year, that went by rather fast, oh and yeah I turned 30 this year, yuck!  You can definitely tell you are getting older, as you are getting older.  When you are young and in your early to mid 20s you think, oh 30 isn't that old.  But, when you hit 30, you start to take note of things, you never really noticed before.  Like how your likes became dislikes or your dislikes became likes.  Or things changing with your body.  I at time's feel old, and other times I fill like I am still in my 20s.  Hell, it seems like just yesterday I was doing a certain drug and drinking every day and partying my life away, when in reality  that started 15 years ago, and ended for the most part back in 2001.. I still will drink on occasion.  I always hated how my dad and his friends would talk about "Back in my day".. and I would never have imagined myself saying those same words, or even reminiscing about those days, but I do, its odd, and it will only get odder.  Well, there was my year in review, for my next year in review, I hope to have a more detailed listing of drama's, music, and BOOKS! I forgot all about books this time around.
Goodbye 2010 and Hello 2011!
