I love this place

My impression of Dreamwidth so far is that it's wonderful. Yeah, it's a bit quiet right now and there aren't that many people, but I love that it's so obviously been made by people who actually use journals. Just a thing like the format=light link in the navigation bar makes me squee ( Read more... )

I really like DW, too, but I'm really waiting to see where people go before I decide where to stay - which will probably be DW anyway, because they have a lot of nifty ideas, like maybe being able to follow people on LJ from your DW reading list and the like. Awesome.

Right now, what I really want, is another layout that isn't fug. But hey, still in beta, it'll come.

Oh, we definitely need some pretty layouts. Especially those of us who never quite did read up on CSS.

Ahahaha, I don't even know what CSS is. I'm feeling so 1999.

It's sort of a step up from html, where you work with style sheets instead. It's very practical, but IIRC it's not entirely the same language as html, and as with everything else, it takes some time getting used to.

I need to learn it now. *sigh*

Oh, that's a fabulous icon. I've been digging around for NCIS icons lately, but haven't found anything that's really me.

*goes looking again*

In the past day about five people on my flist have mentioned DW. Have I missed something? Why is everyone suddenly opening accounts there? *is confused*

It just went into open beta, which is probably why everyone is talking about it right now.

As for why? It looks like an improved version on LJ, with better features, without the annoying ones, without ads at all (which means the risk of another strikethrough is tiny). There are some useful links here.

Ah ok. It all makes sense now. Thanks for the link.

Do you only get a certain number of invites to give out? If you have a spare, I'd love one... :D

I can't wait until I have time to explore DW properly (...she says, while still having time to check LJ, oh logic). It looks so cool and sensible!

Also, I so hear you on the NCIS front. I don't watch it all that often, but whenever I do, man, I'm always overwhelmed by the Gibbs/DiNozzo subtext. Yum!
