Children Of Men cinamotographer just lost to Pan's Labrynth's....

What. The. Fuck.

Pan's Labrynth was okay, but Children of Men was brilliantly done... I can't believe the movie with the long take LOST to fairys.

FUCK me, you're kidding, right? Children of Men totally did *not* lose for cinematography; I'm in denial. That was just a stunning film...

I think they're called "fairies." Or "faeries."

Also: Children of Men didn't win because the Oscars are political and dumb and they had to give Pan's Labyrinth some sort of artistic award, since they didn't give it Best Foreign Film. While the cinematography in Children of Men was undoubtedly better, I think Pan's Labyrinth won for its usage of color variance. That film's palette was quite stunning.

I received the impression that Pan's Labyrinth won a lot of awards just because it was a fantasy movie. yeah, it has special effects, and yeah, it takes a lot of creativity to bring it to screen, but it doesn't automatically mean more effort or thought was put into it. :|
