I'm now wondering whether the phrase "Never try to teach a pig to sing, it wastes your time and annoys the pig," is in fact a bowdlerisation of "Never wrestle with a pig, you both get dirty and the pig likes it," or whether they exist coincidentally and separately.

I think everyone reading this has a pretty good idea of my feelings about the D-abbreviations, and the sort of people who use them.
