Dear Yuletide Author 2014
How is it already time for Yuletide?!
Hi!
First off thank you in advance for writing me a story! I really appreciate you taking the time during this busy holiday season. I really love all the fandoms I chose this year, so I will enjoy a fic related to any of them equally.
Overall, I'm a fan of serious and/or moving stories that really say something about the characters themselves or the relationships they have with others. I love realism, bonus if it's gritty when the story calls for it. I like hurt/comfort stories the best, but I also like angst, humor, fluff, and gen stories that keep with the theme of the source material. I also like scene tags or bits that should have been shown but were skipped over in the source material.
I like slash or het and explicit or not explicit - either are fine with me. I tried to specify in my prompts if I felt strongly one way or another about specific pairings (or with Guardians in no pairings at all). I'd rather not receive de-aged, deathfic, mpreg, hard core bdsm, AU, gender bending or a/b/o.
For Yuletide in particular, I like holiday themed stories. I celebrate Christmas but am open to whatever winter holiday you want to add in as long as it would make sense with the canon. If you don’t like holiday themed stories - that is okay. It can be them doing anything that is related to the ideas of the holidays (family/found families, nostalgia/memories of the past, spending time with friends/families, etc) or whatever else sounds good to you!
Request 1: Revenge
Requested Characters: Emily Thorne and Nolan Ross
I really like the show, especially Emily's revenge plots and whatever overarching plots are happening. In Season 4 so far, Nolan has really been trying to force Emily to find some happiness in her life and try to stop being so wrapped up in only Revenge. I really like that about their relationship, that Nolan obviously cares very deeply for Emily but he also never follows her blindly. He may go along with someone he disagrees with, but he does it with eyes open. His care for her, and concern for what will be left after her Revenge plot ends has always touched me. It must be very strange for him and his promises to David Clark to go from seeing her as a happy loving child from David's viewpoint and now to be so hardened by what happened to her father and family.
I don’t ship Emily and Nolan in the present. In the past I am fascinated by how Emily was so angry and Nolan plucks her up and into this whirlwind world of money and fashion. She and Nolan both probably had a lot of lessons they had to learn in that time period that were harsh and fun depending on what you pick. I do ship them in the past. Any rating is fine for this prompt.
Request 2: Wheel of Time
Requested Characters: Nynaeve and Lan
I started reading these books in high school and last year reread all of them from the start to finish.. I am so happy to love them as much now in my thirties as I did in my teens.
I love so many characters, it was hard to pick two. Nynaeve and Lan are very close to my heart. I loved their romance, that both are so stubborn but so principled. That both are willing to sacrifice so much for what they believe in, and even more for the good of one another.
If you take my offer to write any of the other pairings listed in my request, then know that I really found how the couples came to be together and how their relationships changed over time very interesting. How each's views changed about marriage and relationships was also interesting and their view of their mate over time. Feel free to portray any of that and I'll enjoy it :) no matter where in the series you place the fic!
Request 3: Guardians of the Galaxy
Characters Requested: Peter Quill, Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Gamora
I really enjoyed how fun and upbeat this movie was overall. I liked watching the characters learning slowly to trust one another on screen and how their relationships changed over time. That type of growth together was lovely and I would enjoy seeing that explored further now that they are living together in close quarters on the ship how they further learned to trust and understand each other despite their very different backgrounds.
I don’t ship anyone on the main team so if you can do something genfic and related to how they come together as a team that’d be amazing. Winter holiday themed would be even better!
Request 4: Burn Notice
Requested Characters: Michael Westen, Fiona Glenanne, Sam Axe
I enjoy Burn Notice as a fun show where I don't usually think too hard about plot holes and the like. I most enjoy the dynamic between Michael, Fiona, and Sam. I like how all three of them have a lot of ghosts and demons in their past and that they all deal with it in different ways. And while they may argue and complain about one another, when the chips are down they are all ready to die for the others and that is part of what makes them such a fantastic team!

I wanted to put out there that most of all I want you to enjoy your yuletide experience and if you have an idea that isn't what I have here and it sounds like something I'd like then feel free to write that! If you really enjoy what you're writing that will seep into the work itself and usually makes a more powerful story.

Will they end up on an island somewhere with Nolan making questionable relationship decisions and Emily doing little revenge plots helping others to somewhat redeem herself from her previous actions. Or perhaps a holiday fic related to how Emily and Nolan spent their first Christmas (or any other winter holiday) or New Years together once Emily was out of Juvenile Hall. I don’t actually ship Emily/Nolan in the present (so friendship only in present day) but love thoughts of hatesex when they were younger so feel free to go there in the past if you’d like.

Nynaeve and Lan are some of my very favorite characters in the series - how can you pick just one favorite? I am assuming most people are going to offer any here so I am going to leave my prompt to be open to many different character combos and Id be equally happy with any of these so don’t feel that you have to write Lan and Nyneave if you're more comfortable with some of the others. I would love your take on any of the following couples in the future after the end of the books: Nynaeve and Lan; Perrin and Faile; Matt and Tuon; Rand/Elayne/Aviendha/Min. If you don't like the idea of them past the end of the book, then write something about their hopes and dreams as one part of a couple for the other. How was real life better or worse than what they thought it would be like? What surprised them about being married or bonded? Feel free to write what interests you about them as part of a couple in the crazy world pre and post the war with the shadow. Holiday fic related to winter solstice or the like would also be welcome!

Feel free to include Drax too I just couldn't fit him in the request above. I don't ship any of the characters together so I'd prefer to not have romance between them as part of the story, please.
