I'm thinking about giving the kids each their own rasied bed garden area to grow vegetables in. I'll give them seeds and soil and let them do it all by themselves and see what they come up with. Right now they started this thing where everyday they go outside and water a tree. lol. They tie a colored ribbion around "their" tree and they swear it's

gardening kids is a great thing.

with the kids I'd definately give them a little direction gently. My first garden started with a bang and within 2 weeks all the wonderful beansprounts had gotten knocked over by wind, they really could have done better getting staked i think now...

just make sure their gardens are no where near black walnut trees. kills everything.
