On birdwatching. here is how you start. You get a birdfeeder and you put it outside your windows there. best get one with anti squirrel stuff on it unless you like watching squirrels too.
watch the birds come to your feeder! It makes doing dishes more fun!
buy a pocket sized bird book. look it over often. more you do that the more you'll spot birds you know.
get a calendar and put it on the wall and note on it what birds you see on a certain day. or keep a bird journal (about the same size as the bird book)
a pair of field glasses (SMALL binoculars) are good. But I'd try the first stuff first... bring the birds to you to start.

She had Cesar Milan (the dog whisperer) on to help her out with her dog's behavioral problems. rachel ray and someone else was on too. I could have listened to Cesar set her straight for the entire show.
That's so funny with the bird- watching! My 3 year-old recently received her newest edition of Big Backyard in the mail, and it's all about birdwatching. It suggests setting up a "birdblind" so that you can watch the birds w/out being obtrusive. Basically, it's just a big cardboard box in which you cut a few peepholes. Then you sit real quiet inside, and wait. Hey, and whatever you decide to do while waiting is up to you! We've really wanted to do it these last few days, but have been forced to wait until better weather- ahh, beautiful New England!
LOL - sorry, but "whatever you decide to do while waiting is up to you!" Wow. I felt like I was back in junior high there for a second! I can't believe my mind went there! *blush*
