We started working out, riding bikes and swimming more regularly. And it feels good. It's also fun to have someone to get in shape with, I've never had that before ( Read more... )

I have heard that a baby is as safe in a bike baby seat as it is in a car seat.
Sorry I dont comment often, you know I read tho. I am glad to see you happy.
How did Charolette like her trip to the book store for Harry Potter?

The harry potter thing was fun. It was so late so it was tiring but still a good time. :)

Well, they make baby riders that are pulled behind the bike that I think are safer. The seats that go on the back of the bike are unsafe only if you fall. Are you going to be riding on a trail?

Are you looking into commuter bikes? technically my "mountain bike" is a "commuter bike" because it doesn't have shocks for hopping boulders and stuff. It's perfect for the cinder Katy Trail.

Yeah those sound safer but are a lot of money. I'm going to check at a few thrift stores in Cuba though that carry a lot of kid things. We are mostly going to be riding around here, which is limited to good hard non bumpy surfaces. Mostly it's gravel roads on the campground and I ride in the grass a bit to. But all around the pool and creek that is across the bridge is asphalt.
We will go to the trail in town sometimes but that will be a lot more work hauling the bikes there and what not. How do I take the bikes places anyway are bike racks expensive? We could also take the seats out of the van.

I don't know what kind our bikes are as they are hand me down bikes taken out of storage I think one is my grandmas old bike and one we don't know where it came from. One is a 10 speed bike is all I know.

Well if you are on gravel and/or rough terrain, you might want a mountain bike that has shocks instead of a fork. Uh.. the fork is what holds the front wheel in place. On Mountain bikes, they have shock absorbers as forks. Smoother ride and not so hard on your arms, elbows, wrists, etc.

For the baby carrier, you might want to check with local charities or used ones in the paper.

We have a bike rack in our truck, but when we take the SUV, we just lay the seats down and put the bikes in there. You can do the same for your van, depending on how many bikes you are hauling. Again, I would look in the paper for used ones.

If there's a local freecycle list, you might ask if anybody has a bike trailer. I've got a friend who builds bikes who's found three in dumpsters!
