I have had cards mysteriously "be full" with a similar # of exposures. Those pix are all fine, and the next time I format and use the card, it works fine with full capacity and continues to do so. My only guess is that when it scans the card in the format process, it mistakenly marks bad sectors and forgets on the next format.
If in fact there are exposures missing, I've had good luck with "Image Rescue." I got my copy packaged with a Lexar card, I know it can be bought independently, but IIRC, not downloaded.
