so... do you think that LJ has lost itself to sites like myspace? maybe due to lack of publicity or marketing? or.. is everyone still way into LJ? i personally think LJ is one of the most original sites ever. but, i have to admit, i have been way distant. i'm lost.. but, i'm curious................

I know myspace has been gaining huge ground, but I've no desire for it. LJ not only does everything I need it to, it does it *well*. The few times I've checked out myspace I've never been tempted to dip my toes in those waters, tho more and more people seem to be....

I think myspace is taking over, and frankly, it scares me. I don't like the voyeuristic nature of it, anyone can see anything you post, any messages people leave you, and you have no idea. At least with OIC, you can see who's been looking at your profile.
I was on myspace for a minute, but there was WAAAAY more drama than here. Honestly, I think it's because here you can actually have intelligent posts and conversations, almost more like bulletin board postings to some extent, whereas myspace seems much more superficial.

but that's just me :)

everything about myspace is almost exactly like LJ.. all the way down to the blog's and comment tags. LJ is a much better site though. however, i'm always on myspace for some reason.. and rarely here. it's probably b/c a lot of my friends are on myspace..

I think LJ intimidates some people.. you can comment on a myspace profile, there is no need to 'write entries', etc

actually.. you can't comment on a myspace profile unless you're listed as a "friend" of that person. but, you CAN comment on a blog entry.. even if you're not a friend.

Personally I wouldn't want to use myspace in lieu of LJ - I think people use myspace for different reasons than people use LJ. Plus myspace is down or malfunctioning so much it can be more than a nuisance to use. Either way I do use myspace. I have found myspace is great for finding Indie music artist as well as keeping them all in one place so that I can check on their new releases, touring dates etc. So I guess it can have some good uses.

I used to be so addicted to LJ. But it has lost some it's flare. I think it's do to the fact that most of the people on the site have less drama to write about or no time to write about the drama they do have.

hey.. how are you? yes.. i agree.. i used to be VERY addicted to LJ! i actually like it better than myspace.. but, i use myspace all the time now. i'm barely on LJ. myspace is really almost an identical clone of LJ... and that's why i was posed the question. hope you are well!
