You'd think we spoke the same language over here.  You'd be wrong.  Some of the terms below have caused real, albeit temporary, confusion.  Some have just been humorous.

aubergine = eggplant
bin = garbage can
cashpoint = ATM
chivvy up = to hurry up (ex., "I'll go chivvy up the boys so we can get going.")
corgettes = zucchini
diary = schedule, calendar

Many of those are used here, just less commonly (I'm guessing). I almost always say mobile phone (pronounced in the way I think you're indicating, unless I just say "phone") because not all mobile phones use cellular technology.

I assume you knew many of these already. Some you didn't mention: lorry, WC, torch, trainers, mac...

Oh, and not ending sentences with conjugated verbs. "Can you go pick up some milk?" "Sure, I can do."

Auberge in French is "inn" - I wonder if they're all eggplant colored.
