and i'm now second guessing my use of the word transcontinental (is it transcontinental if you're just going across 1 continent? do you have to cross into another continent before something qualifies at transcontinental?), but you know what i mean.

Also, transcontinental is appropriate. I believe that if you're crossing into another continent it is another word altogether. I'm not sure what that word is.

i guess if you cross into another continent it becomes 'intercontinental.' as in 'intercontinental ballistic missiles.'

when i was in high school, a delightfully geeky friend of mine hijacked our government class with a discussion about icps - intercontinental pointy sticks.
