Right now is one of those times where I'm anxious but trying to pretend that I'm not because I know that in the grand scheme it's just school, it's just kindergarten but education is of such importance to a person and I don't want to freak it up and school doesn't even start for another five days and I'm already ramping up the jitters

That's right! Miles is starting this year, too! Wait, doesn't he miss the age cutoff like R did? Or did you get him tested for early entrance?
He certainly won't be head and shoulders towering above all the other kids. I was shocked at how short the other kids were at orientation.

Nope, kindy. We just went with the current trend of not having him be one of the youngest in his class. He did transitional K last year because it was a good program and it also delayed our having to decide on K or 1st this year.
We really agonized over whether to test him early. He's where he's "supposed" to be, age-wise, by just missing the cutoff. We can always test him to skip a grade later if that seems needed.
So you did test M, then, or is the age cutoff different there?

My reaction to the bullying signs was, methinks they protest too much. You know? And the principle there strikes me as abrasive.
As for being influenced by other people, I hear ya, but he already has a year of full time school under his belt (transitional K) and that turned out fine. I think it's mostly the fact that he will be the youngest of a big age range now. At least they have their own K playground.
