The thought of homemade ice cream will always remind me of hiking up an alpine hill, looking out over meadow flowers, cranking a barrel full of cream, sugar, ice and salt we'd dragged up with us for an eternity (both the dragging and the cranking,) muttering a few expletives, and finally dishing up the sloppy mess and inhaling it before it melted ( Read more... )

Ooh, it looks good.

Homemade ice cream is so good. I've found that if I actually follow the recipes I've found, it is incredibly rich, so much so that small portions are plenty. And on the other hand, if I cut the cream and up the milk, it is not so rich and correspondingly healthier to munch, but still delicious.

Mya fave so far is to heat cream/milk, pour it over broken bits of 70% cocoa dark chocolate, cool in the fridge. Then make what is essentially frozen chocolate mousse. I don't remember what the other ingreds are as I've made it only once, but dagnabbit is it good.

Who, her? Oh, she's just standing on a chair. I don't even know how tall she is because she is *always* standing on chairs.

But yeah. Damn, she is getting big. I mean, her birthday is coming up and she'll be three. That is unpossible!

My goodness but the kiddos look mighty intent. Look at their focus! I'm glad you're loving this new hobby -- may it be marvelously fun and yummy. And only increase the quality but not the quantity of your sweets intake!
