Wedding Dresses

Finding a dress that's modest enough to wear during the Mass is not going to be easy.  Most modern wedding gowns that have sleeves show too much cleavage and most strapless gowns show more skin than it is appropriate to be showing in Church.  There are modest bridal sites out there, and while their gowns are appropriate for Church (and cheap!!!), ( Read more... )

I got married in 2002, and I thought the selection was bad then. I ended up buying a 1994 A-line square-neckline long sleeved Venus gown for about 500 bucks, and have gotten so many compliments both then and still now on it. I found the dress on theknot.com and then called every bridal store in a two hour radius to see if they had it in stock. One did. So I drove an hour there, tried it on and ordered it in my size...first dress I tried on. They no longer sell it unfortunately.

Oh wow, they're all pretty. I want to get married too, lol! Do you have any family or friends who make clothes? Maybe they could give you a deal?

Oh, some of those are very pretty!! :)

Alternately, have you considered the possibility of getting a strapless gown and having a bolero made so that you can cover up a little more? (Says the girl who's not trying to PAY for such a thing)

Of course, I wouldn't have expected any different from you, but it's still so nice to read that you're so concerned about being modest in God's house on your wedding day.

Congrats again!

You've chosen some really beautiful designs! I love the first on the left, but off the shoulders like that might be a bit much - depending on your parish and your own comfort.

Congratulations! :)

my favorites are the one on the top right and the castley ones... the only wedding dresses that've really caught my attention as particularly breathtaking (for myself, of course) are rennaissance/medeival ones, but i've always figured they'd be prohibitively expensive... keep me posted. i like these, and i'm glad you're looking for classy. still, i know a good number of Godly women who've been blessed with amazing wedding dresses for under $200 even, so you can continue to hope and trust in God and see whether a cheap wedding dress will be one of His wedding gifts to you... *hugs you!* :)
