In case you haven't heard, Hurricane Ike is causing the price of gas to spike. It's already up a dollar in some places around Missouri, some places are higher. Therefore, fill up your tank as you can.

Hey, I saw your comment about Dexter, MO on the STL community - what had you there? I never heard about Dexter, so it caught my eye! (My best friend's husband grew up there!)

A friend of mine has family down there, and he was commenting on the gas prices.

Well since the hurricane shut down the refineries in the Gulf area (most of the oil refineries in the US are between Houston and Alabama), it does affect gas prices. It also tends to spark a panic and a rush on the supplies. There were whole counties as far away as South Carolina and Kentucky that ran out of gas completely. This happened in Katrina all over the South (gas jumped from $2 to $6-8/gallon in some places).
