Still stuck on my Coheed and Cambria bender. Still haven't listened to much of anything else ever since I picked them up weeks ago ( Read more... )

Nerds lurk everywhere. It's your refusal to talk to people that's the problem, not your interests.

Lots of people love your lame-ass music and retro video games, but often, like you, they suck at the whole social thing. Go talk to people. Put up posters for your Dorks at York club, then sit in the pub and wait for other nerdlings to show up.

Do something.

Yes, it came up in conversation with Alexmonster today that we both have this issue of actually making new friends. We're good at keeping them once we've got them, but actually meeting new people is like a whole different sport to us.

Perhaps I should do something with the Dorks, like Alexmonster did. Apparently they still meet, so I should look into that and maybe put in an appearance. And then perhaps try to recruit more nerdlings and hope the curvy kind with breasts show up.

And if all you're looking for is girls, you may be out of luck. Look for friends, 'cause friends know girls and may be able to introduce you.

Well, based on the power ballad-ness of the music--and, you know, the lead singer's hair--there's at least some method to that madness.

I went shopping for their stuff at HMV a few weeks back and could find them at first. I eventually found them in the Punk section. They may not be hair metal, but they sure as hell aren't punk.

Sadly, I do not. At least, I don't know that I know a lot of people that like them. I'd love to sit down with someone at some point and gush about how awesome the last two albums are, but doing such a thing is always better when someone else feels the same way. So far, the best response to "Coheed and Cambria are awesome, eh?" has been, "But I'm worried the rest of their songs aren't as good as the two I already know."

Next time we meet, we should do this. It will be fantastic. I will feel so much better about everything.
