Weekly Check-In
I'm late with this one, but I'm still only one week behind. It's not a total loss. I was having trouble finding time to do this, but then I realized I have a Pocket PC with a Bluetooth keyboard that I bring with me to work every night. So.
1: Lose Weight! - Nooooo.
I was talking with Rob about interval training, and it seemed to be something I ought to try. So I did: Last Thursday, my Wii Fit routine became 10 minutes of rhythm boxing, then 20 minutes of free step, 10 more of the boxing, 20 more of the stepping, then a third set of 10 for the boxing. I'd like to think I was exhausted after that simply because it felt like it ate up two hours of my day, but I'm not so sure.
On the upside, I hit a new low after that workout: 228.8 pounds! Awesome! I had somehow lost, like, four pounds after Thanksgiving weekend.
But then I spent the time until today's Wii Fit time eating too many burgers and doing no exercise at all. Lo and behold, I am back to 231.
The upside is that, apart from the fact that the workouts take for freaking ever, from the one new workout plan I've had, they seem to do me more than a little good. I'm going to try putting them in when I get home from my midnight shifts. I usually stay up until at least nine, anyway.
2: Budget and Save! - No.
Had I not spent $50+ on those extra Zendikar packs last FNM, I'd be fine. I'm not sure why I did that. It seemed like the right thing to do at the time.
I haven't updated my books since I emailed it to myself to work on at school, but I'm pretty sure I'm still earning more money than I'm spending. Then again, I have two concerts and two birthdays coming up in the next few weeks. I hate trying to budget for those things.
3: To-Do List! - Sort of?
I've knocked off some of the recurring things, like cleaning my room and doing my laundry, but there are still a pile of school-related things I need to crack down on. It's not like I have an excuse, either.
4: Read! - Nope.
Pretty much the same place as I was last week. I watched through most of Season 5 of The Office, but that hardly counts.
5: Create! Yes!
Did a bit more guitar and song-related work. Nothing really concrete yet, but I've got some words brainstormed for a few songs and have noodled out a guitar part or two or three. Most of them are just variations on the same four chords. I'm still not sure if that's a good thing or not.
There has been some progress, but also some regress, and a fair bit of not doing a whole lot of anything at all.
I read Alex's post regarding her half-way recap of her 101 in 1001. Someone--Patrick, I think--recommended I do the same thing a while back, but I remember thinking then, "I don't know if I could even think of 101 things I want to do!" I'm sure now that, if I wanted to make such a list that long, I could.
I said to Katie, "Hey, maybe I should try doing a list like Alex's."
And Katie said, "Maybe you should try a little willpower instead."
I'm still tossing around the idea of doing both--having the list could help give me a bit more focus--but her point is still sharp and clear: As always, I need to stop stating that nothing is getting done and actually do something.

In other news, Pandora seems to have abandoned her litter box entirely and taken to leaving her messes wherever she pleases in the basement. Thankfully, none of those places have yet been in my bedroom, but I suspect it's only a matter of time now...
Thing is, she'll be 18 in December. That's pretty damn old for a cat. She's still in pretty good health, but I fear this lack of respect for the litter box is a telling sign that her time is coming sooner than I'd like.
