Must Read Comics

In the wake of Watchmen, I decided to make my short list of 5 comics and graphic novels that every comic book geek should read. I haven't put too much thought into this list, so I'm going to miss things you think are important. But whatever, it's my list, not yours ( Read more... )

hell yeah I remember when comics were for kids! I used to get Disney's Rescue Rangers and Darkwing Duck comics along with Archie's TMNT comics down at the PX or the news stand in off base on Sunday mornings with my dad. That was the only reason I looked forward to getting up early on Sundays as a kid.

Oh, the Archie TMNT. I thought you meant the original ones, which were not for kids really.. :)

oh hell no! I went with my dad to get the TMNT comics, if I was getting the original stuff he'd have killed me. He usually read them while my mom, sister and I were at church or CCD. I'd come home and he'd be shaking his head and laughing at Vanessa's and my taste in comics.

I honestly didn't know a place where I could get the original stuff until I was in high school. The post exchange and the newspaper stand in town didn't carry anything like that. But the photography shop in town, that guy would get you anything you wanted. ~_^

I did get one of the original Mirage TMNT comics at a comic expo thing held at a mall in our area when I was in high school. The guy I bought it from complained for hours about the Archie comics... didn't take into account that maybe I was a weee bit younger than him and might have liked the kiddy stuff. Seriously, I can't look at that one comic without hearing his 8 hour rant. Vanessa and I just shut our mouths and let him carry on, then we spent years complaining about him.

The list is fine, I thought Power Pack was a interesting idea when it first hit to be certain. no one else was doing it. I've never read Maus but have always heard great things about it.

other selections are great, I do side with cindy on the 2 books she mentioned as far as great books go.

I'll have to give those a read, do either of you have them around?
