Torchwood!

I've finally decided to post something cool on my livejournal again. It's sad, I don't update it enough. But I never have anything interesting to say anymore. Me no life. :~(

On recommendation of a friend, I decided to check out a new show called Torchwood, which is a spinoff show of Doctor Who. Yes, that kiddie show Doctor Who which I always ( Read more... )

Hi. Yes John is excellent in musical theatre although with DW/TW he's not had chance to do any recently..although he was on stage in that great other British tradition..pantomine..at Christmas. Hoping he will make a return to the West End in a couple of years though..if the rumour grapevine is correct.

Incidentally, its not that big a change..he was a presenter on children's TV and channle 5 in the 90s as well as the musical theatre stuff, plus he was in Titans and Central Park West in the Us...so he has done TV acting and stuff before DW..its just not been quite as high profile (at least over in the UK) as his theatre work.

(BTW picked up your post on the google alerts thing so hope you don't mind me dropping by)

Welcome to my humble blog!

I'm not familiar with much of JB's work since I live in the US and we rarely get treated to UK shows. It's sad that I probably won't ever catch the guy in a live show unless he decides to come to Broadway. I can only hope he doesn't get too involved in his musicals that he makes no time for TV!

But now, I may have to get one of his musical albums. He has a lovely singing voice.

Now I am more of a theatre fan than TV so I am so looking forward to him getting back on stage. He did do a fair bit on Broadway in the 90s so its not impossible that he would be back sometime.

Depends what you like as to which of his albums it would be best to start with. I prefer Swings Cole Porter and Reflections of Broadway to Another Side (but the former two are of course songs from musicals, the latter is cheesy 80s covers..but is still nice). The case albums are good but of course he is not on all the songs.

And as I am old, I have followed John (on and off - well life sometimes gets in the way!) since the beginning of his UK career.

I just got a copy of Another Side from iTunes. I guess I like cheesy stuff because I'm enjoying the music on it.

But you are probably right that he's musical singing is probably better than him singing pop songs. He has spent, what, 15 years of his life doing musicals, right? I only wish we could do a musical Torchwood episode....

But for now, I guess I'll have to check out Barrowman's musical stuff too. Poop on Torchwood for making me spend money! :~)
