Well, my latest AI idea--the exciting-for-a-PhD one--finally collapsed into a smoldering heap of intractability, as expected. Within the wreckage is another idea which is already well on its way to suffering the same fate, but I'll give it a shot, anyway ( Read more... )

How do you build this out? What's the full level by level progression? Skills etc? What weapon did you go with?

In retrospect, I should probably have bumped INT to 14 at level 4 for an extra skill (probably Tumble).

I have an off-shoot build of this: Bard 1/Fighter 7/Weapon Master 7/RDD 5. The idea is to get STR 25 in anticipation of Devastating Critical at level 21 in the expansion. Unfortunately, it really wrecks the feat progression. I'm strangely obsessed with Dev Crit, even though I never took it in NWN 1, and it probably won't make much difference anyway (the stuff you couldn't kill with crit damage alone will probably make the save vs. death).

Oh, weapon is scimitar, chosen for the 18-20/x2 crit profile, and because I prefer using a shield most of the time, but still like having the option to go two-handed style.

Cool I will have to try this build out.

For the expansion the obvious path to me would be to go 10 RDD but maybe there is a better option...?

Dev crit is probably a waste considering the amount of high CR monsters have crit immunity.

Let me know how it goes.

I think RDD 10 would probably be the best path. Pick up power attack and improved power attack to help deal with those high-DR crit-immunes.

Another issue with dev crit is, monsters who wouldn't drop from the crit damage alone are likely to have saves so high they won't drop to the instakill, either. Besides, being a scythe master is practically like having dev crit, anyway. :D

Any advantage to getting the full PA/CL/GC trio to have in addition to Whirlwind?

Another idea would be to get FB to level 5 and add fighter levels...?

I really want a melee powerhouse character that doesn't rely on buffs too much and can use (UMD) virtually any equipment. I like to stay with Great Sword since it deals damage consistantly. Falchion is OK too but Scythe isn't RP enough for me and a bit too munchkin.

RDD is nice since it eliminates the need to take Blind Fight and a couple of other feats which could be used for something else.

Having ALL of the combat and weapon feats (including epic feats) by 30 would be sweet.

I think whirlwind attack and the cleave line of feats are redundant with each other ( ... )
