I told myself I wouldn't get Half-Life 2 because I found their copy protection mechanism distasteful. However, this weekend Best Buy was selling "The Orange Box"--a bundle containing Half-Life 2, HL2: Episode 1, HL2: Episode 2, Team Fortress 2, and Portal--for $25 (normally it's $50 or $60). So, yeah, I cracked. Or rather, Andrea never got me a ( Read more... )

I kinda-sorta considered getting The Orange Box even at $50, but held off. One of the big influences in my purchase was an unofficial 2D version of Portal at http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/404612 that I played through a couple of times; it was pretty fun, so I was looking forward to the 3D version. So far, I've just been playing Portal; I haven't even gotten around to playing the actual Half-Life games, yet!

Were you able to get gold in any of the "Least Steps" or "Least Time" challenges? The "Least Portals" ones I could do, but the other two just frustrate the heck out of me.

Also my gaming PC is in the middle of 'surgery' for some minor upgrades with parts that were purchased over the last several months but never installed...leaving me with enough leftover parts to put together a gaming PC for my girlfriend just in time for Christmas. She has an older Gateway laptop that she plays games on (mostly SIMS 2) and for lack of a better word it is craptastic. Portal is a game I think my girlfriend might like too (Puzzle Quest is another ( ... )

Good grief, man! What are you going to do with that beast of a rig? :)

I imagine I'll have lots of life-based interruptions once I start work. So, what am I doing to make the most of my remaining free time? Why, studying programming for my new job, of course! Bleh!
