I liked how both of them were so similar in temper and life choices. LIked how upset Bradley was to lose that Colin, thinking that he might never have it again. Great job.
My two most favourite stories in the entire Merlin fandom are both true alternate universe AUs. I had this little thrill when I read the premise - I almost hoped this was an unofficial sequel to my favourite one, but when I saw that it was a "what if Bradley had done footie instead of acting" au, I was thrilled. You truely did live up to my expectations.
Your relaxed open Colin was so lovely. It made me realize how much someone's confidence becomes their character. Confidence and open-ness are so vastly different from being reserved and contained, it's like a whole different person. I do hope he found his Arthur, and I'd like to think this Arthur will have a special love for the "other" Colin that never dies, even as his love for this Colin grows.
If you're casting about for something to write, in a few weeks or months when you've come down from the high of producing this beautiful story, I can promise you I'd love to know the story of other Arthur, and how things go with other Colin.
Oh wow, thank you for such a lovely comment! I'm so glad you enjoyed the story, and it lived up to your expectations! I'd been toying around with the idea for a story about 'what if Bradley had become a footballer instead' and when the bigbang fest popped up, the idea just came to me.
I do have a few ideas about the alternate Bradley and just how he and the alternate Colin would get along, so it may well be something I'd try to write, though it'll be a while, as I am a procrastinator of the highest degree, hehe.
I really like this story. I'm a sucker for alternate universe fics and this was lovely. I really like the way the "other" Colin was, more open and relaxed most likely because he wasn't as famous. I don't know Colin Morgan (of course) but I can't help but think he gets more and more reserved as his fame grows. I love that Bradley helps his Colin to become more like alternative Colin and I love the love story :D
Thanks, I'm really glad you enjoyed the story! I know what you mean, looking at interviews and whatnot, it could be taken that fame is a factor for how private and reserved he is, which is why I decided to go for the opposite for a Colin that wasn't famous. Thanks for reading and commenting!
I have no doubt that the Internet did in fact explode and that the shrieks of fangirls could be herd across the world because I'm quite certain you could hear me sqee in Singapore and at the very least my heart exploded :). This story was such a great read, I loved alt native universe Bradley even though we never actually met him, and out cootie play FTW and his work with the community and the Trevor project.... There are not enough hearts in the word to express my love. An alternative universe is such a fun place to play, don't we all wonder what would be different if life has taken one turn instead of another and I like the way you crafted it, so that they were all similar while being so different. How hard it must have been for Bradley to come back, what a trade off, real life versus true love and "real" Colin who wanted him back so much he didn't even Taoist how much. Oh my goodness, yes this was great fun to read. Thanks for sharing!
