"We were hoping to get over 50 percent, but that didn't happen today," said Sen. David Vitter, R-La., one of the amendment's supporters. "Eventually, Congress is going to have to catch up to the wisdom of the American people or the American people will change Congress for the better."

I love how this man manages to be simultaneously so very right... and so very wrong.

yeah, I mean... "Shit, man. All these progressive jerks are gonna have to catch up to us good ole boys, or we gonna leave 'em in the dust!"

I might be a couple minutes late tonight, but I'm on my way :)

they should just get rid of marriage altogether so many problems would be solved. churches can marry people, states will issue civil unions to anyone who wants that kind of thing.

problem solved, the senate can move on dealing with real problems.

"'The Republican leadership is asking us to spend time writing bigotry into the Constitution,' said Sen. Edward Kennedy..."
"In response, [Orin] Hatch fumed: "Does he really want to suggest that over half of the United States Senate is a crew of bigots?"

Dude, if the shoe fits...
