got a cell phone.. now what?

so i got a motorola flip phone from a friend, which should work since i've got a motorola.  but it's asking for a subsidy password.  HELP!

that means that the phone is locked for use only by the provider. you have to get an unlocked phone or one by the same company who provides service :(

You want to do a Motorola USB Unlock. You should be able to find software for about $25 that does the unlock via USB cable. I don't know anything about this, but the dude who sits next to me at work has done it successfully although I have no idea what sort of phone he has.
