The issue with the "Me Too" movement is that its aims are too low, too base - they seek to ostracize what is a part of human nature that should be replaced with what is noble, but I doubt that we should seek to destroy as much as appears to be the case.  We should want to elevate, replace the base instincts.  Certainly too many of us are overly ( Read more... )

Brief discussion on a few (two) incentives.

1. In business, there is the profit and loss incentive system - similar to reproduction, that which is profitable and successful will continue, that which is not will not.

I think if I die, what I will miss most will be ice cream.  And maybe sex I guess.  I guess the things that are really inherent to life itself.  And purpose, I suppose, just to round things out philosophically.  I wouldn't miss anything aside from those things.

I think Elon’s idea if he sells 10% of his $200B in TSLA stock would be demonstrate the impact of the taxes on unrealized capital gains -  i.e. the stock price would decline substantially.  I personally like the idea, although it leaves shareholders in a bad place for a short time, but policy makers must be taught a lesson, as they are many of them ( Read more... )

If I'm being honest, even though risks are accruing around the world, I still think I'm being rather speculative to sell as much stock as I have.  If I'm being totally honest, I am trying to time the market a bit.

I have very mixed feelings about the new James Bond film so far (No Time to Die).  I think the highest level opinion I have is - I'm leaning towards thinking that James Bond needs to be timeless, in the sense that the story should not come to a close - there should not be a death, because it imposes restrictions on the story that don't seem to fit ( Read more... )
