[Filter // Public]

How tragic. For a President to be murdered, and in such a terrible way... this is truly a solemn occasion.

However, I'd like to see them try and blame this ship for that one. Though, it's always possible that they will accuse us of having caused the Cactuar stampede ourselves to slide an oh-so- ( Read more... )

tick-tock tick-tock, terrorism, not my country, splody public figures, assassination? wasn't me, presidential murder, doesn't actually care

The duality of your public opinion and your personal opinion amuses me greatly.

It is a solemn occasion, though it's more of a personal thing if you're actually from his country, I think.

However, despite that, I wouldn't like to see us get blamed for it. Would you?

Of course not. It would make things so terribly inconvenient.

Mm. Precisely.

The fact that the president is dead is a terrible thing, but I'm more concerned about my own well being. If this crew gets accused simply because it's this crew, to say that it would be an inconvenience is something of an understatement.

Especially now that I am part of it and I have better things to do than plead my innocence at the trial of a crime I did not commit.

It would certainly appear that way. A high-profile, all-over-the-network Cactuar attack would be the perfect alibi after all.

If they try to pin this on us, I'm sure Bydan, the Winding Way and several hundred cacutars will had something to say about that!

Bydan and the Winding Way, possibly. The cactuars? I believe the majority of them were murdered, so I doubt they're in a position to say much of anything, unfortunately.

Maybe if we got blamed for that it would make this place more consistently interesting. I don't suppose flashy explosions mean it was anyone like you, either.

I just love everyone's outpouring of grief and sorrow over the whole thing. Like any of them really care. There'll be another president, but you'd think everyone knew him personally from the way they're carrying on.

Speaking of which, I see you have yourself a little friend.

No, the flashy explosions would generally point away from it being a professional Assassin. We tend to get things done in a more... skillful and delicate manner. Explosions are so crass. The culprit obviously didn't do it simply to kill the president, they did it to cause as much alarm and commotion as possible. I wonder if he was killed outright in the explosion, or whether somebody in the building was thoughtful enough to slip in the misericorde?

You are right, though. I'm surprised at the public grief, myself. I expected shock, but tears over the network? Presidents are replaceable and each is likely to be as corrupt as the last.

Friend? ...the cactuar?

Well, commotion they caused plenty of, but I figured it can't have been a real assassination; you people get so uppity about killing more people than you're paid to.

I suppose all these bloodthirsty pirates want to show themselves to be good, pious, upstanding citizens.

The cook.

... Are you really keeping one of those things?

Precisely. It was well planned, but shoddily executed. If it was one of the Guild... well, they'd need dealing with themselves.

Cook? Oh. You mean Anthy. What about her? She's very pleasant.

I intend to experiment on it. I wish to find out it's elemental weaknesses and whether I can control sentient plants as well as the regular kind.

[pause]

Before you compare me to him, think very carefully about what you're going to say, Larxene.
