Stopping that damn "Disk Cleanup is calculating...."
Whenever you run XP's Disk Cleanup, it wastes your time scanning your damn hard drive and calculating how much space can be saved by compressing old files. The whole "compressing old files" thing might have been a great feature when disk space was hard to come by back in the '90s, but these days it's just an annoyance. Kill it. Hacking time zones
I'm finally trying to use the WD external hard drive ("My Book World Edition") that I bought some time ago. But since I use Linux, I'm hacking into the thing and setting it up to be an rsync server, etcetcetc.
Anyway, the time was wrong. Specifically, it was off by 2 hours. Turns out, the time zone information was fubar.

SGH-T669 videos
My cell phone, a Samsung Gravity Touch (SGH-T669), technically will play videos. Samsung has software that will convert videos appropriately, but it's included in their moronic bloatware piece'o'crap "PC Studio", so I've been trying to get WinFF to do the job instead ( Read more... ) -
Recording some 'puter trouble-shooting
Samsung SGH-T669, connecting via USB to a T30 running Fedora (14?). Couldn't connect to it as a Mass Storage device, despite having set the phone to MTP mode.
