How does one decide their reasons for doing anything in life? What goals are really worthwhile? Happiness? Power? Finding love? Is it odd to do something just to see what happens

For reasons unknown to others, are reasons merely known to the self as to why anyone does anything in life. Goals can quickly deform to fit the individual and are never too stiff that they cannot be flexible.
Who says your goals are nonexistent merely because you do something just to see its results? Is seeing the end of your plight worthy enough to be counted as a 'goal'?
