[Hikari had awoken to the warmth of sand beneath her sprawled-out body, the scent of the ocean hanging in the air, and the gentle rhythm of waves caressing the tips of her toes. Anything resembling certainty washed away within thirty seconds of this. The wings, the inability to remember anything that had happened after falling asleep the night before, the numbing conclusion that she must have died, the gnawing worry of what this would do to Yaya, the chilling realization that Amane would hardly flinch because she couldn't remember...
She stumbles along the shoreline, looking as though she might cry at any second but is trying to hold back the tears. Judging by the streaky redness staining her cheeks, she has already failed miserably in this regard.]
[LATER...]
[In the early evening, having already been situated at the Welcome Center and located some proper clothing, Hikari can be found kneeling before the fountain in the plaza. Her head is bowed, eyes closed and hands clasped together in prayer. Like this, she can at least pretend she is home. Then her eyes slide open and the illusion evaporates.
She retires for the night as the sun begins to set, trying not to feel as empty as her new apartment. Sitting on the sad little couch in her living room, she hesitantly cracks open her journal.]
[voice]
H-Hello, everyone... [a deep breath, then a shy smile. strong strong strong for Yaya-chan and Amane-senpai, even though she feels like breaking.]
My name is Hikari Konohana. I'm very pleased to meet you all, even if...the circumstances are a little...sad. I just arrived here today, and... [what else should she say? I would really like to go home? She knows that isn't possible. Her smile is already cracking; her head quickly dips in a self-conscious bow.] Please take good care of me! I am very grateful for all of your kindness and generosity.
T-That's...all I wanted to say. Thank you! [the feed shuts off quickly. She slumps down in her seat and draws her knees up to her chest, hugging them tightly. How can she be strong when there's nobody to lean on?]
