Well Honduras was awesome. About 20 of us from Raleigh went. We got up at 6am and had a devotional in English and Spanish. Our two translators were Nicole and Nestor "the molestor." We travelled to nearby towns and shoveled cement in the mornings, then hosted devotionals in the afternoons. I got to practice my Spanish a lot. Just makes me ( Read more... )

Well friends, the time has come. At 6:15 this morning, I will be on a plane on my way to Tegucigalpa, Honduras. I am ready for my first international experience. I probably won't get much sleep tonight... but this will be an eye-opener.

Well, three workdays down, one to go before my week off. Although Saturday and Sunday were long days, I can definitley say they were interesting. Saturday I worked at the chocolate factory 2-10:30. Well I've got one workday down, three more to go before I get off for Honduras. I'm working 24 hours between Friday and Monday. I'm trying to keep a positive attitude about it. So far I'm succeeding. But it's only day 1...

My Friday started at 5:51 AM Amazingly enough, my family got to the airport before seven. We ate breakfast at the Popeye's inside the airport. The flight to Washington DC was uneventful. One question: why can't Yoda ever say a sentence in subject-verb-object order like everybody else? But I can't complain about Episode III. I thought the six episodes really came together nicely. Sooooo, life is good. Much improved since my last lonely entry. Today I had no work so I slept in, puttered around the house this morning, then went shopping with my Mom. I am having a hard time adjusting to not being in Boone. My friends are far away. I don't have many friends here in Durham. There's just work. And family. And my dog. I need a life.

Wow, that semester went by fast.  I can't believe exams are over and summer is here.  I did fine in my classes... three Bs and one C... in Spanish, go figure.  Well it's a good thing I found out I'd rather be a gerontology minor.  Jordan's graduation was cool.  All the family came in from South Carolina and Asheville and stuff.  Great to have ( Read more... )
