I've been fighting with the cable company the past few days. I was visiting the folks earlier this week, and when I got home on Wednesday... I had no TV or internet service. I called the 1-888 number thingy... and they were like, do this and this, wait five minutes, stand on your head (okay, I threw that part in) and then call us back if it still ( Read more... )

Have you considered switching over to satellite/DSL? My DSL is only $20 a month and I've had it for 3 years now and never had an issue. Same with my satellite. I've never had to call for customer service (then again I used to be the tech support so I can fix my own problems, if I ever have any!).

Cable sucks balls. I hate cable.

I'd thought about that... but doesn't that require contracts for satellite and a landline plan?? Annnd... satellites do tend to go out in bad weather. I dunno.. there's pros and cons to each.

The electric company here is in the process of establishing their own cable service... but it'll be a year or so before it's available to everyone. Which, I'm sure being a 'new' company, they'll have their own plethora of problems, but maybe the competition will at least drive the prices down.
