Stop Changing My Code!
What's the only thing worse than going back and documenting a year and a half's worth of code?
Making major design changes to that code and redocumenting most of it.
At this rate, I'll be lucky to finish by the end of the year. -
One Line of Code, Four Lines of Comments
Microsoft may finally have found a way to motivate programmers to comment their code. If the comments are enclosed in certain XML tags, a wonderful program will parse them and create a Windows Help file. The more tags you use, the better the help file is. Zombie Hands
Today I noticed that I can transcribe from paper to screen without burning hardly any brain power, leaving me plenty of time to experience the somewhat disturbing sensation of having one's hands move without really thinking about it.

It's Back!
Today I was liberated from my rather minute techno collection. Today, I was once again able to tune in to GamingFM. Granted, not all the channels are working yet. Fine with me; at least the one I listen to is on. -
Awesome
Today has been awesome. The drive to work was a breeze. I optimized code that was taking too long to run; instead of taking 20 minutes, it now takes 4 seconds. I'm at least a week ahead of everyone else. I've finished all my version 1 requirements and I'm most of the way through my version 2 requirements ( Read more... ) -

So, it's been a boring day at work. On such boring days, I look for alternate activities to fill my time. Sometimes I find something marginally related to programming, so it's not a total waste. Sometimes I don't, and then I play poker on Yahoo (which is just marginally less boring than staring at a blank screen).

Most days at work, we have a smoothly operating team that works in such a way that everything seems to magically fall into place.
Other days, we have a young guy who thinks he knows everything and whines a lot and an old guy who thinks he knows everything and is always right.
And that's why I wear headphones at work.
