We've had a difficult couple of weeks. My mood remains unstable a lot of the time. Good, happy days still happen, but the bad days are so bloody awful that I just feel like a monster. Oh well. We're trying our best to deal with it as a family ( Read more... )

Mine are fabulous <333

My brothers are okay. One's in another city and the other is going to visit him soon.

Those are lovely cushions :-)

Moods don't often stabilise over night - give yourself time. Sometimes, you're going to feel cruddy, sometimes there won't be a concrete reason why - and it's OK to let yourself not be completely OK at those times. (While holding it together around your little ones is obviously preferable, for many reasons, don't beat yourself up if that's not always going to be possible.) But hopefully, with time, patience and remembering to be kind to yourself, things will hopefully get better over time.

It's odd how difficult it is to remember to be kind to yourself. Thanks for reminding me :)

I think that's because, when you're depressed, it can be very easy (not productive, healthy, or rational, but nonetheless easy) to blame yourself - it's frustrating and miserable and the problem is internal, so not feeling better yet is something we can beat ourselves up over. But you'd never condemn a friend or relative in the same way for experiencing the same thing. You are just as deserving of kindness, compassion, etc. as other people are.

This cartoon/blog may make you smile (or sometimes cry) but does a brilliant (and adorable) job at encouraging people to be kinder to themselves: http://boggletheowl.tumblr.com/
