I find it fascinating that we as human beings, despite our nearly fanatical desire to prove ourselves somehow... more intelligent or more important than everything non-human; are truly creatures driven by instinct. Slaves to our baser instincts, no matter how hard we try.

If you're the same, I guess it's useful. If you're talking to voices in your head about which buildings to burn down first... I would say it's not therapeutic.

I guess it's therapeutic, if it's helping you. In a situation like that, if I hadn't spoken out loud to try and calm myself, I might have just completely freaked out. Not sure though.
On a side note: You must have been glad I wasn't there eh? Considering my frequent urge to kick pigeons...

Having mentioned animals, I'll add one more note: I saw a mini Poodle today about the length of a rugby ball. Adorkable.
Talking to yourself aloud: v. v. therapeutic. I do it all the time, regardless of whether or not there are other people around. I talk to inanimate objects sometimes, too. It helps me keep my thoughts organized. :3

...the only time I can recall talking to inanimate objects for any length of time was when my computer quasi-broke and I was urging it to turn on and let me save my files. I was like, "come on baby, come on, you can do it! *patpatpat*"
