I can't believe I know the answer to both of those questions.

a) Ben and Firestar were all flirty back when he was a member of the New Warriors as the Scarlet Spider, much to the consternation of her then-boyfriend Justice.

b) I'm pretty sure this happened in the mid-'80s Beauty and the Beast miniseries, in which they were both made to fight in some kind of underground mutant fight club, which was run by...Dr. Doom's son...only I think maybe he was actually a robot...or something?
