Pets are part of the family... They're like children in their love, devotion, and dependancy. They NEED you. And so you get very close to them. It's never easy to loose a pet. But it sounds like you did the right thing. ~Poor little guy.~
Christian will take it hard. But try to be strong. In a sensitive tone of voice, tell him the facts. Be short and keep things vague. Only be specific when/if he asks specific questions. Try to be positive. And remember that death is part of life... Christian needs to learn that. (We all learn it eventually.) It's easier to loose a pet than a person. So try and think of it that way. He's getting a softer blow in this life & death lesson. ::HUGS::
It is so hard to lose a pet. There are totally a part of your family. Good luck with telling Christian. Jackson has had to go through the death of four dogs, 2 grandparents and an uncle and he's handled it pretty well. He'll be okay.
