Character: Rokudo Mukuro
Canon: Matekyo Hitman Reborn
Version: Manga
Canon Point: Pre-canon
Age: about7
Gender: male

History: Canon explains that Mukuro was part of a series of experiments held by the mafia family known as the Estreneo. The Estreneo family was known for creating immoral weapons- most known to the possession bullets. Someone shot with a possession bullet can take over the body of another person. When this was presented to other Mafia families it was shunned, and labeled as inhumane, and thus forbidden. The manufacturing of it were destroyed and the Estreneo family became just as shunned as the bullets. It is described by other children of the Estreneo who were apparently allowed outside (three children are shown outside in one panel, but not Mukuro) that as soon as they went outside other members of the Mafia would attack them on sight.

The Estraneo became so desperate to end this that they tried to come up with a weapon that would redeem them in the mafia world- and thus they turned to the children. Mukuro describes being all six paths of reincarnation, so it can be assumed that he "died" at least six times. As stated in the Manga, one needs to have a strong spirit as well as a natural affinity to handling the bullet- which apparently Mukuro has. It is probably safe to assume his "deaths" correspond with being shot with the possession bullet.

[All canon based facts and inferences end here and the following is all headcanon]

Mukuro's parents were actually part of the science team conducting the experiments and thus, thinking it to all be for the good of the Estreneo, they gave up their child to the experiments as soon as he was physically capable of handling them when he was a toddler (as opposed to some parents that may have tried to hide their children or something to that effect). He has no recollection of his parent actually being his parent, or even who his parents are. All he's ever really known are the experiments, as they did not want him to become contaminated by anything outside. Everything in his life has been regulated. He gets his nutrients through an IV, and he's strapped down before he's put to be at night. He wasn't even granted a name- going solely by the number 69 (hence the pun on his name when he goes to Japan because Italians do not have Japanese names I'm sorry)

He has gone through a number of eyes, all prototypes to the one he has currently. At first the eyes simply burned or irritated him without any sort of outside stimulus and would "break" on their own. Either by becoming infected or biologically rejected. Later, once the eyes were more stable they began introducing the possession bullets into the mix. In the beginning the eyes would quickly burn out and break, but over time as the eyes they develop became more advanced- Mukuro began getting a taste for what his powers were like. Of course he has yet to make the connection to his out of body experiences, or sudden physical strength, or even the strange appearance of bugs and such after an experiment session.

As he is, the final eye has just been implanted, and he is just waking up after the surgery.

Personality:

As a child Mukuro is incredibly emotionally fragile. For the sake of survival he has closed himself off to almost everything entirely. Everyone he gets close to or grows a fondness for dies, he's in excruciating pain everyday, and no one seems like they're about to do anything about it, so he's learned to fall back into his own mind to keep himself from breaking. He's had no control over his own life and thus he's become a selective mute. Words have never held any power in his environment. Screams and pleas have fallen on deaf ears, and talking to the other children proves pointless since soon they will cease talking anyway. Every day he simply continues to exist in the hopes that he will live long enough to see it end, but even that hope has begun to fade.

As well as being mute he's started to develop OCD tendencies to try and maintain order in his choatic life. Like his hair- it may seem like a frivolous matter, but it is something on his body that he can control. He can keep it clean, and make it look how he feels nice. If something were to inturrupt this or do something like mess it up he will throw a fit. It can be assumed that since he was such a quiet and mostly easy child the Scientists allowed him this small control.

Mukuro's also got a growing resentment against humanity for what they've done, which doesn't come as any surprise to anyone. However, he hasn't gone on his massacre yet- so he doesn't feel it is his job to cleanse the world at this point. His hope in people is just worn and faded, but it is still there. Until he discovers that he can take 'justice' into his own hands with his newly implanted eye, he will still be looking for that good in the world. He is more apt to search for this good in other children rather than adults, as the only kindness he's ever experienced came from the other children. Should he find someone to imprint on... he will become fixated on them almost obsessively, which may come as a problem without the ability to fully control or understand his powers. He may lash out jealously unintentionally, without any real clue as to what he's doing- or that it's even him doing it. At least at first. Once he discovers his powers, everything is going to go downhill unless given a rigid black-and-white set of what is right and wrong, he will give up on what little faith he had and develop a rather prominent god complex and try to wipe out humanity.

Fears:
Mukuro doesn't really understand the concept of fear. He has seen some of the other children express it- typically those who have been pulled from their families and came from the outside- but Mukuro was taken to young to remember anything else. All he knows are the experiments, so his daily life horror has made him numb to such things. Which may cause trouble for him when exploring the house...

However, should he make a friend from the outside who he is sure should REMAIN on the outside he will get frantic should something happen to them. He is very apt to put all his eggs in one basket when it comes to friends. Anything happening to bonds he has thought to be permanent and he will snap more than he already has.

Also his own powers are going to frighten him at first- as well as his lack of control of them. At least until he gets an understanding that they can be useful if he utilizes them properly. Though the fifth path will greatly disturb him.

Weaknesses: After using his powers he becomes incredibly weak, often just falling asleep right on the spot, even as he's older. He's also rather mentally unstable (gee I wonder why), he has never been taught that killing is wrong, so his morals will be rather skewed.

Mundane Strengths/Abilities: Without his eye Mukuro is just a regular child. A child who has never been outside, or experienced life the way he should. He's physically small and very weak. Weaker than most children. Without his eye he is very unimpressive- save for his intelligence.

Sensitivity/Magical Ability: I apologize for all this in advance.

Mukuro is an illusionist, meaning he can conjure illusions at will with the power of his eye. The law behind an illusion being "once you give into an illusion, you give up your perception to the illusionist", the rule seems to go doubly however if you manage to counter one illusion with another, making it very hard to break out of. Granted at this point in time, his illusions are relatively weak. If you know it's an illusion it won't harm you- as oppose to when he's older and can keep a girl alive through illusionary organs (and thus breaks physics even by his own canon's standards). Mukuro's right eye is the source of most of his skills, which are basic around the different paths of reincarnation in the Buddhist religion. The path number correlated to the kanji numeral his eye displays. They go as follows

1rst path: Path of Hell- Mukuro utilizes his power of illusions. Some of his illusions are so strong they actually become physically tangible, like Chrome's organs. Despite not always being in the the path of hell he seems to be able to utilize illusions even while this path is not active.

2nd path: Path of hungry ghosts- Mukuro becomes able to use abilities of those he possess in the 6th path.

3rd path: Path of beats- summons animals, obviously he doesn't summon fluffy rabbits, not this path is usually reserved to poisonous snakes and wild dogs. Used to confuse opponents as to what's illusion and what's not. .. however he's never really encountered these animals before so chances are his control of them will be very weak and they may run a bit wild once his initial desire is done with them.

4rth path: path of asura- Mukuro becomes enhances in physical combat. He fights with his trademark trident (which may or may not aide in illusions, it's unclear) Mukuro's eye becomes lit in flame as well. This, in combination with his illusionary trident is how he later slaughters his family.

5th path: Path of humans- Over-all enhancement, is surrounded by black dying will flame. In order to use this path he must first dig his fingers into his eye, skewering it. He claims (when he is older) that this is the most dangerous path, as well as the one he like the least.

6th path: Path of heavens- allows possession/mind control. Without the aide of possession bullets, the mind control can be broken if the mind controlled is emotionally reached. This is usually done by some sort of verbal statement. Mind control can also be fought, he cannot force someone to tell him information for example, also he does not feel the pain of the possessed, so he is able to utilize the body until it is either physically broken or dead. This is usually the default state of his eye.

Mukuro is also owns something called "possession bullets". With these, if he shoots himself in the head with one, he is able to not only posses someone to the point where it is impossible to break free, but he can also posses multiple bodies at once. The only down side is... since he WAS shot in the head, that his body is laying on the floor and making skull juice... not lethally, but still, he's a sitting duck. In order to posses a body however, he must first cut them with the trident. It is assumed after he does that he can take over the body at will at any given time.

Supply List:

A small handful of possession bullets, for the sake of a number let's say 8 of them. He's got his hospital scrubs, the bandages on his body and that's about it.

Sample RP post:

The floor... he was on the floor or something hard like it... that was all he could gather as the fog slowly lifted from his head. They actually made him sleep before they put this eye in. Odd, usually he was always awake. Odder still was that they hadn't strapped him down until he woke up like they usually did. No, instead they left him on something cold, and hard. It didn't feel like metal operating table though. Oh well, it's not like it mattered any. They would come and put him in the room with the other kids soon like they always did.

...

Strange. Things where quiet. Was he alone? He didn't recall ever being alone and free to move before. Should he open his eye? He didn't really want to. The bright lights always bothered him after he woke up, and his head already felt so throbby and achy already. It was always really bad after he got a new eye. Some were worse than others, this one didn't seem bad, it still hurt a lot, but there was no burning, or itching.

...

And still... no one. Very slowly the boy's good eye fluttered open. He could vaguely feel the pressure of bandages on his right eye. Nothing out of the ordinary... other than his surroundings. This wasn't the laboratory, or any of the operating rooms. It wasn't like anything he had ever seen before. Was he... outside? The men in the white coats would be upset if he was. They didn't let anyone go out of the labs unless they broke... was he broken? He didn't feel broken... that meant the men in white coats should be coming soon. He should just wait here for them. Maybe they wouldn't be upset at him then.

And thus the small, frail, and sickly little boy remained there on the ground by the front door in his little hospital scrubs.
