_just_say_it requested a tutorial for my vm icons so here's one for an icon I haven't even posted yet. You will now see how ridiculously simple it is to make.
Going from this
to this
1. Take your cap, crop:

2. Screen to 100% opacity, and then soft light to 100% opacity. It should now look something like this:
3. Colour fill on soft light to 100%. I used #89F4DC, a light turquoise, and got this:
4. Fiddle around with the colour balance. Mine was red +8, magneta -12, blue +16. Now I'm here:
5. Soft light to 20% opacity and then increase the saturation by +20.
And that's it! Ridiculously simple. :)
