Why don't you get your doc to schedule a surgeon to remove them? You have a sore throat for a few days afterwards, but that's about it. Maybe only a couple days, really.

Hmm, maybe it is that easy but first I have to actually get a family doctor, plus I think they're more strict now about removing tonsils. They don't do it so willy-nilly any more, you have to have a pretty bad throat infection 3-5 times in one year or something before they'll consider taking them out. :(
