Real Estate Rant

Since I'm obsessed with houses I get to read quite a bit of real estate mojo and I just gotta say... if the house has "great curb appeal" then you don't want it! Who came up with that? Curb appeal? Please. I'm so worried if one of the selling features of the house is the fact that it's in close proximity to a curb! And lanai... come on people ( Read more... )

Not sure if you're joking with the "curb appeal" thing... that means it looks nice from the street, which means its resale value will continue to be good if you keep the house up, not that it's close to the curb. Just so I'm sure you know that it's a good thing, not a weird thing to say.

I swear to you... the curb is bad! picklepopsicle April 13 2006, 20:57:35 UTC
It's just an absurd sounding phrase. No one outside of the world of real estate sees your house for the first time and tells you what great curb appeal it has. (unless they are damaged) I’m pretty sure I never want to put that in the description of my house because it *IS* usually only on the houses that don’t have much else in the listings because 99 ferrets lived in there and no one in their right mind would purchase the house except that it has great curb appeal. I’m telling you… BEWARE THE CURB!

I also enjoy the phrase "Crown molding throughout!" which I WILL put in the description of my house. And heck yes… that screened in porch in the back with a droopy moisture ridden fan that backs up to a 1 tree buffer between my house and a new subdivision is in fact better described here: “Overlook a peaceful wooded area from your spacious screened in lanai equipped with a ceiling fan.”

This is my new job.

All the better for you to kick your hoebags to the curb?

Well then it wouldn't be appealing now would it? If a bunch of hoes are hanging around in the street near my house I think I've got a lot of worries other than selling...

HOE CAM 2006! We're back baby! We've moved from SW 16th Ave to NW 47th Way but baby it's worth it! Oops that's not a hoe! That's a 70 year old walking a poodle... damn. Tune in next time...
