From what I understand, if you have relatives that get kidney stones on occasion, it puts you in a higher risk group for it. My dad and brother have both had them.
The emergency room doc that was assigned to me said it was the closest thing a guy can get to giving birth, and I believe her. I was on percocet and was still in pain. :(
Tell Tom to start drinking lots of water ASAP if he's starting to feel some kidney pain. If he gives you any guff remind him of how bad his previous attacks are... that should get him back on track.
I haven't been to the urologist to determine what the composition of my stone is, but when I do I'm damn sure going to make sure this doesn't reoccur.
