Just saw a bit that Ticketmaster and Livenation are going to be allowed to merge.  I know I'm like a week behind the times, but damn.  Yes, this is from the Sun-Times, but the cozy relationship between the FCC and the current administration is really uncomfortable.  Some excerpts from the article:

Ticketmaster is pretty much the purest example of everything wrong with America. Seriously. All they are is a middleman, and not even a middleman that makes life more convenient. Ever since the internet came along, they've been entirely unnecessary. They exist solely to mark up the price.

Every time I think of them, a Simpsons bit pops in my mind:

Mr. Burns: And to think, Smithers, you laughed when I bought TicketMaster. "Nobody's going to pay a 100% service charge."
Smithers: Well, it's a policy that ensures a healthy mix of the rich and the ignorant, sir.

But but...Techcrunch said once musicians accepted recorded music has no value, they would escape their corporate shackles and get the real money in touring.

You mean they were WRONG?
