I'm kinda surprised at the sudden outpouring of affection for John Hughes. I loved "The Breakfast Club" as a kid and "Some Kind Of Wonderful" and "Weird Science" were fun, but apparently this guy's movies hit a lot more buttons than I thought

I think it touched a lot of us in the eighties. I know for sure that I identified with many of his characters!

Indeed. I always feel a bit sad when a personality I liked dies, but John Hughes was pretty amazing. He was kind of like my John Lennon, I guess. Seriously! If I had a dime for everytime I quoted a John Hughes movie, I'd be independently wealthy... ((((( Long Duk Dong))))

That's why I wanted to post about his death... he is a part of the tapestry of my coming of age.
