I had big baking day and therefore very little time to do anything else. But I managed to write two short paragraphs and am planning to type up some more of the already written stuff.
Excerpt: She (Hoshi) had to admit, though, that Jack's confidence was more than just bragging. Their captain was still one of the best pilots Earth could offer; even though Travis (Mayweather) had broken his long-standing Academy records. He sat the shuttlepod down on the handkerchief-sized clearing softly like a feather.
A little more work on my Snowbug story, but the main focus today was the first day of my studies - we will be given a weekly exercise to do and workshop and need to get it up early so I started it (this week we were given a stick genre character and place, and an 'item' that they might use in a story, and I am working on how to pit together a little skit in my own style on them :)
Sorry, stock genre character (my typos, they are everywhere). Just a character 'type' that people expect to see in this type of story, for instance in this exercise a private detective (because crime is one of the genres, although we do not have to make the exercise crime - I am inventing a Victorian lady detective finding herself in a ghost story :)
I was very busy in the tiny bookshop all day, and watched TV with my husband after we ate - but about 10pm I finally began to write! I have added another 300+ words to the Glorfindel story.
He is about to be sent back to Middle Earth -
Whilst it was assumed that no elf who crossed the Sundering Sea from East to West could return, in fact some of Círdan’s West-bound vessels docked in Tol Eressëa and their passengers disembarked there, the crew remained on board, and the vessel returned to The Havens; there was a limited supply of skilled mariners…
It is interesting that we have the same idea about Círdan's ships - in "Elvenhome" I, too, established (as my headcanon) that the mariners couldn't set foot on Tol Eressea, or else they should have to stay there. Or is that actually stated anywhere by The Professor and I've just forgotten the source?
I thought a long time ago, like you, that it would make sense for some of the sailors to return or Círdan would, eventually, run out of crew - and I honestly don't know exactly what is canon. But I reckon you and I are right!
