The incompetent mommy

Jul 28, 2008 08:13

Since the eight-year old wiz kid "newborn" dream, I've since had two dreams (both about actual babies this time) that detail how inept and forgetful I am as a mother.

Last Thursday's dream:
I was at a party, and several friends were there, including vitainpalus. All these friends were taking care of my kid, but I was always doing something else. When I ( Read more... )

Jungian analysis would say that other people in our dreams are really just parts of ourselves, so he'd like your take.

This is one interpretation I hadn't considered, but it does make sense. One's dreams represent the self, yes? According to those dream books, sometimes dreaming being pregnant is having a Big Idea. However, actually being pregnant can also relate to the thoughts and fears surrounding parenthood, as well.

This is very interesting, and I'm going to have to sit on this notion a bit longer. Thank you!

Ah, Morgan... You'll be fine and I can pretty much guarantee you won't end up divorced with CPS on your neglectful ass. ;) You're going to be a great mommy.

And I *love* how you said you were most at peace when you were breastfeeding the baby. That was so sweet.

I do hope to be a great mommy. I think I've been gearing up for this my whole life, despite all my resistance over the years to motherhood. :)

Thank you for your comment!

I sure hope that's the case, because otherwise I'm doomed to a life of divorce court, child negligence, and CPS visits.

Ha! not you. The only bad thing possible for you is being doomed to a life of really really weird dreams. :)

Well, I think that one's a given!

So, that's all you have to worry about! everything else is cake! (mmmm...cake...)

Although, again I can't recall how many weeks is a full term. all I know is that my manager's due date is August 2 or 3 and so she might get to meet her baby any day now. So, when's yours? what are you doing about teaching? I guess...taking the semester off? I know you must have explained this to people 1000x but my brain has been away in corporate finance.

I believe they consider 37 weeks full term. My estimated due date is October 2, so whenever Doodle feels like coming into this world around then is fine by me.

I plan to start the year, then go out and return after New Year's, though I will probably come back the week before break just to reacclimate a bit.

I think I must be too literal for this idea. If it's beneath my skin and muscles, I think it's inside me. I'm trying to understand that the tunnel is not inside me, though. If anything it's in the middle (i.e., mesoderm layer of development).

Hmmm.

Perhaps today I shall approach life as a kangaroo with a joey in her pouch.

*hop*

There is an episode of "A Baby Story" on TLC right now with a focus on hypnobirthing. The episode title is "Baby Ho"

...Okay...is it showing a trapeze thing? Weird. I guess I've missed the hypnobirthing part.

Thanks for the tip... I normally stay away from that show, as they're prone to going for the 'high-drama' tv (i.e., lots of screaming and interventions and c-sections).

....and....gee, c-section.

Grr, TLC. Grr.

well, I changed the channel and went to Dog Whisperer. But I figured when they got further into the episode they'd cover this couple's hypnobirth experience
