this is the first oil painting i have done in a long time, and the first picture i have posted directly in my journal, ever. i finally figured out how to do it, and this is what i am doing instead of sleeping tonight.

That is awesome.

I wish I could paint. People say (a lot) that I should be painted. I tend to think of myself more as a 'should be sculpted' type ... but who knows. Anyway, you rock.

oh yes, i agree that you should be sculpted. MONONLITHIC, isn't that what you once said??

thanks for the compliment. this is the mandatory "garden/flowers" painting...generic subject matter, but what i was focusing on was the color. i tend to get lazy when mixing colors, so i really wanted to work on a color theme for this painting. my art teacher in h.s. said it's not the finished product, but the process that counts, and i tend to agree with him.

at any rate, my mom will likely want it when i am through, so it will be a nice birthday gift.

so, can you sculpt, too? I say we crack out the clay during the next visit, dude.

... of course, part of me would rather be painted. it's more romantic, for some reason.
