we had the most wonderful time tonight, listening to david sedaris speak. he read some excerpts from his old books, his new book, his upcoming book, and his journal. he was kind and funny and patient. during the question part of the lecture, i asked "if you like monkeys so much, why don't you like our president?". it ended at 10 p.m., and he stayed until past midnight to sign books for an unbelievably long line. i know, because i was 5 people from the end of the line. he drew a monkey in my book, and titled it "to a special lady"*. then rebecca, rob, and i walked home in a nice, brisk night.
i would like to have a life like david sedaris, traveling from city to city.
*because i asked him to.
