e-bay and other signs and wonders

Jan 09, 2005 08:57

I spent alot of time last night on E-bay, making sure no one sniped the hand carved wooden dragon I was biding on. Right pravailed, and you can rest at night knowing it's in the proper hands. But, with the dawning of the age of the grilled cheese virgin mary and grandpa's haunted spookity-spoo cane, e-bay's became a stranger place. Grant you, there ( Read more... )

Yeah those things are like crop circles, they just show up and no one knows what to do about them. But a haunted one? Just think of what you could get for it on e-bay. Ten, fifteen cents at least.

I think it went into the thousands of dollars. The guy was a really good storyteller. Apparently, no matter what he did to it (even throwing it in a dump on the other side of town), it somehow ended up back on his desk or in his car. He marked the CD to make sure it was the same one. He had some good stories about it. But c'mon... an AOL CD selling for a couple of thousand?!

I'm pretty sure, in 15 years, when VH1 airs "I love the new millenium" or some insipid bullcrap, that that will be one of the topics.

It'll be French Stewart ('cuz you know he's gonna be one of those washed up, "where are they now" people) With his half opened, dopey eyes, saying "those haunted things! And do you remember Ebay the way it was? before they bought the rights to install mind ports in all humans? whoo, was that fun! Those were the days!"

Or something like that. What a nightmare. But seriously, people will reminisce over these things...one day....

Other things that'll be "novel". Card game based Anime cartoons, Queer eye, Gangsta rap, botox and buying and selling without the mark of the Beast. Reminisces scare me, every day will one day be the good ol days.

I agree. These things are awesomely scary. And reminiscence seems to happen moments after the occurence these days. this is the scariest part.
