Wow, has it really been three weeks since I've done a personal LJ post??

Well, it's about time I do that thing...And I've definitely got some good things to report...

Didn't realize you were such a fan of Bela Bartok. I, too, am an admirer. Bluebeard's Castle is probably my favorite one act.

I've been studying Bartok since the summer, to prepare for writing atonal music; my bandmates have been very generous in giving me Bartok examples to start from...And then my PostTonal class has been making numerous references to Bartok, and I even used some of his compositional techniques for own score...

So, yeah - I've only recently become an admirer of Bartok, especially his String Quartets...Bluebeard's Castle is good, though for 20th Century opera, I prefer John Adams and Britten...
